Project overview:
The construction of the £357 million, 60,000 seat Emirates Stadium for
Arsenal in Islington on a 17 acre site. Over 25,000 cubic metres of contaminated
material has been removed from the site, which has resulted in a requirement
for the foundations to be more heavily reinforced than normal.
The Emirates Stadium replaces the existing Highbury Stadium which will be converted into 2000 residential properties.
Key issues:
Unlike many high profile construction projects, the Emirates Stadium was completed
early, ready for the start of the 2006 season.
Due to its location in a residential area, deliveries to the site must be precisely to schedule in their alloted windows. Any failure would be detrimental to the whole project.

The Channel Tunnel Rail Link, completed by London & Continental Railways Limited.
It is Britain's first major new railway for over a century - a high-speed
line running for 109km (68 miles) between St Pancras station in London and
the Channel Tunnel. The project was authorised by Parliament with the passage
of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link Act, 1996.
Key issues:
As a major supplier of reinforcement in the UK, Kierbeck have been involved in the Channel Tunnel Rail Link construction since the project began.
Working with all the major contractors on the project, we have delivered rebar,
mesh, cages and pre-fabricated mesh, together with threaded bar and couplers.

The Grand Arcade site in Cambridge is bordered by Downing St, St Andrews St, Corn Exchange St and Lion Yard.
The Scheme comprises a 450,000 square feet retail redevelopment of the existing
Robert Sayle store and adjoining land. The scheme includes 50 new shop units
offering a 21st Century shopping experience in the heart of Cambridge.
Key issues:
As an enclosed city centre site, access to the project is extremely restricted and requires timed deliveries.

ExCeL London, the international exhibition and conference centre, home to a vast range of events throughout the year, from internationally acclaimed travel trade exhibitions to high octane sporting events for all the family, as well as product launches, conferences and corporate hospitality functions.
Key issues:
The location of the ExCel centre at the heart of London's docklands, together with its proximity to the Royal Victoria Docks made access to the site extremely limited. A confined site meant that there was no space available on which to store reinforcement before it was needed. As result Kierbeck had to deliver precisiely to schedule and just in time as the building was contstructed. A pre-tensioned floor also required for the use of special shape codes.

Project overview:
The £18 Million, 2.3km long viaduct extension to the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) to link it to the City Airport at the Royal Docks. Approximately 95% of its total length is supported on a concrete viaduct.
Key issues:
Cut and bent rebar supplied to extremely tight tolerances of +0mm/-12mm to fit into pre-cast moulds situated at the casting yard in Thames Wharf. A first time fit was imperative to keep the casting programme on schedule.
Working with Halcrow and the client, Kierbeck developed the innovative concept of track bed ducts being formed in bent mesh, as a means of reducing on-site operations and hence saving time and money.
As a result of the quality of our product and service, we have been chosen as the supplier of steel reinforcement for the next phse of the DLR which is the Woolwich Arsenal Extension project, which commenced in August 2005.
